This morning, I noticed that (inspiring designer)Sarah over at Pewter + Sage Boo'd me! How fun!
BOOING:
1. You make up a treat bag, include a Boo poem describing the game, and a ghost face of some sort.
2. You chose a home, run the goodies up to the front porch, ring the bell, and run for your life!
3. Your neighbors answer the door, get the goodies, and put the ghost face on their front door, showing that they have been Boo'd.
I've heard of it, but have never Boo'd anyone. I thought I would break out of our daily mold and show the girls some impromptu fun! We decided to Boo cousins Megan and Madison. I made a child version (the girls are 4 and 6 yrs.) We attached this poem to two Halloween balloons. We walked down the lane and had to hide in the woods. The girls had a blast, but just HAD to reveal themselves to their cousins. Sorry about the sideways video. It took over an hour to download and then it downloaded sideways! AHHH! Turn your head to the left.

Now the boo party has hit the web!!! Here's the BOO poem:
The air is cool, the season is fall,
Soon Halloween will come to all.
Ghosts and goblins, spooks galore...
Tricky witches at your door.
The spooks are after things to do,
In fact, a spook brought this "BOO" to you.
The excitement comes when friends like you,
Copy this note and make it two.
We'll all have smiles on our faces,
When we see who Boo'd who's places.
Fun!

5. Let's see how fast and far this spreads between now and Halloween!

I also wear a black witch hat every Halloween, but I noticed that Brandi's had some lovely black feathers, so I hot glued some to my hat! Here's Laney modeling the outcome!

9. My go-to meal is honestly, tacos. If I'm too busy or tired to create a nice meal, my family knows it will be a taco night. I always have the ingredients on hand.
10. I could honestly waste a whole day sitting on a bench in NYC. I'm a huge people watcher and love to check out what everyone is wearing. After I people watch, I could spend a few more days shopping. I NEVER get tired of shopping! NEVER! (I think I get this from my Grandma Mary!)
This afternoon, Laney quietly played with her Barbies for such a long time! I planned for the two of us to do some projects, but she was just having a great time playing. When Laney, Henry and I went to pick Emily up at school, my friend Alyssa and her children gifted Laney with an incredible birthday bag (hand drawn pix from each child...my favorite, stickers, colored pens, Hello Kitty dry erase board, hair ribbons, socks, activity book, jewelry, a soccer sippy cup, scarf, and a cute felt bag )! Needless to say, she was thrilled and even let Emily color with her. The girls were silent until dinner!
I made egg/sausage casserole and cinnamon rolls for dinner (one of Laney's favorite meals) and made a sprinkle strawberry cake.
Since we live so close to cousins Megan and Madison, Jon and I went to Emily's conference while Kyle and Suzanne watched our kids. When we were finished with our conference, we picked up all of the children (including theirs), so Kyle and Suzanne could go to Megan's conference. Here's a pix of us picking the girls up. How many children can you stuff in the backseat of Jon's car? (We just drive like 200 yards down our private lane.) I walked out and noticed all of the girls stuffed in the seats, laughing because Billy Idol was jammin' on the radio! Yikes!
Tomorrow we get back to our normal routine! So much for our great day of chillin'! :)
Well, we pulled it off and had a ball...our first trip to Walt Disney World...and it was a surprise!
We started planning last summer. Last week while Emily was at school, Henry was napping and Laney was playing, I would rush around and pack our suitcases. Then I would hide them until the next opportunity to secretly pull them out! Was it a lot of work? Yes! Was the surprise worth it? Yes! We told the girls that we were going to take them to the Indianapolis Children's Museum (about an hour away...and the girls love it). We had to stay over night at a hotel by the airport in order to catch our 7am flight to the Mickey's home. Once at the hotel, we told the girls that we were going to take a plane to the museum. They love Star Wars and were over the moon with excitement when they heard that we would be pulling a Han Solo stunt...landing on top of the museum! What? I put together some goodies for the plane ride, but the day before, my sweet friend's MIL, Nana, put together 2 goody bags (crayons, colored pencils, construction paper, drawing paper, snacks, drinks, stickers, jewelry, lip gloss, etc.). The girls were smiling ear to ear when they got their goody bags. This was such an awesome and super thoughtful gift idea from Nana! Once we landed in Orlando, Laney shouted out, "I see the museum! There it is!" We had to check in to the Magical Express station (a bus that takes us to Disney) and that is when Emily figured it out. She was still skeptical though, because this was her first trip and she had no idea what to expect! We checked into our hotel and were off to the The Land of Mickey Mouse.

One of my favorite parts of the trip? The short boat ride over to Disney. It was just so relaxing and not many people were on it. I especially loved the night rides. We spent Monday through Friday visiting the different parks and meeting new characters.
The girls loved the characters! They always had their autograph books ready! We went to three character meals.
The girls loved meeting so many princesses! Every time a princess would come talk to them, they were speechless! So cute! Emily's favorite? Minnie Mouse! (Emily said she would love to see Minnie's closet!)
Laney loved the princesses!
Henry even enjoyed the characters!
At one point, Jon took the girls inside to meet many characters. Henry and I stayed outside, but I put him right up to the glass wall to watch. Minnie Mouse left her spot, came right up to the glass wall, bent down and waved, etc. to Henry. Henry started laughing out loud. So many people rushed up and took pix and video. Too bad Jon had all of our equipment inside! :) But, Minnie found Henry again at an evening BBQ! I guess she couldn't get enough of his sweet cheeks!
And who couldn't forget the fun rides!
Along with the park adventures, we also enjoyed some pool time at our hotel! The girls loved the pool slide, hot tub, baby pool, and the fact that ducks swam in the pool with the people!
On our last day, we met up with our friends Jenny and Alan. Jon took his first trip to Disney with Alan when they were little, and they were back at Disney 30 years later with their families! It was very neat to meet up with them! The guys rode a roller coaster together and my friend Jenny and I (we went to HS together) enjoyed time with all of the children!
Overall, it was a crazy fun time. We let each girl chose a costume at the end of the trip. I snuck in some goodies for Christmas! We have our whole vacay on video and have 1 million pictures to show the kids their first trip to Walt Disney World. I could go on and on about our great trip! So in Disney language...we had a very
