Have you ever had just a really good day?
A day when everything goes well your spirits are in a good space and things just FLOW?
That is my yesterday.
What a nice summer day!
Yesterday was quite special because we celebrated my dad's 60th birthday! My parents came over. My dad brought party hats...crazy eye glasses with funny noses...and candy.
All for the girls of course.
Oh yes... they were thrilled with the goods!
Henry wanted NOTHING to do with any of them but here was a willing participant! Ha!
My parents watched the children while I went to have more of my neck and jawline cut on. I make it sound so drastic...only one stitch on my jawline but I have a couple of band-aids covering the area. I feel like a teenager who is trying to cover up a horrible hickey! Yuck! (And for the record in my 36 years of life I have NEVER had a hickey! Gross! BUT...I might reconsider for Edward or Jasper! Ha!)
(*Side note...I'm 3/4 the way through the last book BREAKING DAWN. Wow does this 700+ pager read FAST! I like it...especially the 2nd half!)
On my way back from the doctor I picked up a little cake for Dad.
We all enjoyed a cake and ice cream snack! YUM-O!
Later on the girls went over to Aunt Karla's oh so adorable summer house to finish their art lesson.
Aunt Karla was home for 3 weeks (just went back to CT this morning...boo hoo). She had Emily Laney and cousins Megan and Madison over to create clay sculptures!
The girls arrived back just as our friends...the Klattes...arrived for dinner. It was hotter than the blazes here and the humidity was like 1 million percent (and my hair gets HUGE with humidity! Unfortunately Emily and dear Henry's do too! Oh Henry looks like someone plugged him in!)
Here's a recipe for a cold chicken salad that I served. This is my own version from another recipe. I like it but it needs something else to make me absolutely LOVE it. It's light and really good!
Lauren's Cold Chicken Salad:
2 cups chicken (cooked and shredded...food processor)
1 cup diced celery
1 cup halved seedless red grapes
1 can pineapple tidbits (drained but reserve liquid)
1 cup light Hellman's Mayo
salt and pepper
Mix all together. Add some of the pineapple juice as well. Refrigerate.
So yesterday was just a nice day. I'm so happy to have spent it with my wonderful family and friends. Being surrounded by the people I love just added a bit of bOuNce to my day!
And...my mom called last night and said that my parents left my house and drove straight to the furniture store. My dad picked out a new leather chair for his birthday! Yippee! This is a guy who has NEVER...in his 60 years...picked out any type of furniture!
Happy birthday DAD!
