Why Do I Paint?

Yesterday afternoon...

back in the art room again.

I am still amazed when someone wants artwork from little ole moi .

There are so many skilled and talented artists all over.

I've never had art classes (besides elementary school art).

I've never had lessons.

It all started because I wanted something special for each of my children.

So, why do I paint?

Because every piece of artwork has it's own story.

*****

Remember this stool?

I paint because I get wonderful pictures like this.

Nana playing with her grandchildren...

sitting on the stool that I created for her.

It's awesome to know that Nana can enjoy floor time a bit more now that she has her stool.
*****

And my latest creation...

a memory box.

Remembering Amy Kirsten who passed away at age 5 1/2.

So many special memories will go inside of this box.

This little girl was a fighter.

The most adorable little girl.
From many states away, her mother contacted me and asked if I could create this special piece.
Anything I can do to celebrate Amy.
Her mother chose the color scheme.
And this quote inside...painted in RED...Amy's favorite color...
Oh, those curly cues?
Amy had the most adorable blonde ringlets!
Butterflies were the theme at dear Amy's celebration service.
Hopefully, this piece will bring a smile to Amy's family.
*****
And this is exactly why I create.
To bring a smile to another face.
Maybe it is the people pleaser in me.
Maybe it's just my love...trying to reach the next person.

I always say that there are no rules in art.
I never know how each piece will turn out.
My daughter says that she is not the best artist.
What is THE BEST?
There will always be others that seem to be more gifted.
All I can say is that...for me....joy, passion and creativity = the outcome of my artwork.
If I can pass on those three qualities to my children....
than I think I'm doing okay.
