A Ball Of A Weekend

We started our weekend with a relaxing Friday evening at home. Laney has been having so much fun making towel tents lately! It seems as though there is a towel tent in our living room every day (and night) now! Jon brought pizza home on Friday and we rented some nice family movies. I even baked some yummy peanut butter cookies! The girls had basketball on Saturday morning. Henry loved running around inside the gym! Here's Laney's very first shot in a game (Emily's ready to catch it if it doesn't go in)! Laney and cousin Madison were supposed to be guarding each other. I'm sure they were talking about being "Power Girls" (their little 2 girl "club") instead of ball! Ha! My parents always come to the games to watch the girls, but it looks like Papa kept Henry entertained instead! Emily was walking down the court, but when she saw me, she stopped to pose for the camera! Jon is beside her tooting his whistle, and his sister, Suzanne, is probably going over there to take that silly whistle away from him! ~wink~ On Saturday afternoon, we went to watch the children's babysitter play in her high school basketball game. Here's Laney waiting for her babysitter, Carly, to come out onto the floor! On Saturday evening, we all went out to eat at Outback! It was nice to get out and about! We stopped in at Hobby Lobby and the girls picked out Valentine supplies. I am going to help them make cards for their classmates, and I know that we will all enjoy creating! Then we stopped by another favorite store...Barnes and Noble! The girls had gift cards; therefore, they picked out some great books! On our way home, we stopped by Starbucks! YUM-O! Notice that Jon is carrying 4 drinks? Yep, he got the girls hot chocolate! Laney's first official Bux! Today we enjoyed a relaxing Sunday. A few cat naps were taken. The boys enjoyed some basketball watching. I made a huge pot of chili and baked a few loaves of pumpkin bread! And just like the weekend started..it ended with a nice towel tent! I hope you all had a great weekend!

1980's Flashback To Comeback

I (unfortunately) remember the 7th grade (circa 1987). We had a first year math and homeroom teacher who lost a lot of her hair due to drinking the water on her Mexican honeymoon, a few students made fireballs with hairspray and hand lighters when she went to xerox papers, and origami fortune tellers were "the bomb". When creating our fortune tellers, I'm sure that we wrote down the names of cute boys, how many children we would have and fortunes stating who we would marry. Ah, the life of a middle school girl.
.........
Fast forward a few years...Yesterday I remembered how to recreate the origami fortune teller (with numbers, colors and fortunes stating "You will have a wonderful dinner tonight").

The girls had a ball with the few that I made!

Also...While the girls were at school yesterday, I decided to make them some little no-sew aprons! Go here for the tutorial. They are sew easy! The aprons motivated the girls to set the dinner table. Laney drew a picture of everyone. Here is what I found on my setting! I told the girls that they could use their new aprons as napkins, and they loved that idea (since they wipe their dirty hands on their outfits instead of their real napkin anyway!) Ha!

I hope that you all have a happy weekend! Henry is teething and is a bit under the weather, so for the third day in a row, Laney's barbies will keep him entertained!

Happy Friday!

Pick Me Ups

January in Indiana means cabin fever. The children are tired of being inside. They are tired of their toys. Crafts are even a bore (Say it isn't so?). The girls are even a bit testy with each other because they are a bit bored. I thought I would jazz up January for them! Yesterday, after school, I gave Emily and Laney a few pick me ups: Jelly Bellies, a Muppets DVD and tongue tattoos! This character just had the girls in stitches! And if you are wondering what goodies Henry received..he just discovered the girls' Barbies...and was SO IN LOVE!

Sock It To Ya

What to do with those lonely socks that lost their mates in the washing machine or dryer? How about some sock puppets?! After school, the girls and I created our little friends (mine is the black sock). I have tubs of scrap craft supplies, and the girls enjoyed going through it all! Ribbon mustache? Here's a close up of Laney's sock. She was so proud of the big pom pom that she glued to it's chest! I still don't know what that is all about! :)

Happy Wednesday!

Everyone Loves A Little Math

Here is what the girls did on Sunday, since the temperature hit 55 degrees! Yippee! And this is today on our way to school. Once again, we are snow covered here in Indiana! To all of you readers who have nice weather right now...please go outside and do a cartwheel for me! Ha! We are playing indoors today! On a much more exciting note...Emily and Jon often work on her math in the evening. Yesterday she came home from school so excited! She completed more equations on her timed math! We were all excited, so Jon came home with a little surprise for everyone! ICE CREAM! Everyone congratulated Emily and celebrated! We were all loving math last night!

Happy Birthday, Matt

Happy Birthday to our dear, dear friend Matt!

Let's Get Together

Our weather has been a bit dreadful here this past week. No school on Thursday, and a two hour delay on Friday due to freezing rain. We just made the best of it and kept busy and warm at home. The girls and I crafted a bit. I made a felt garland for our mantle. The girls painted some paper hearts. After many days of staying inside at home, we were all ready for a break. Friday, we all broke out some fun bold clothing. Here are the girls in their Princess and the Frog dresses. After dropping Emily off at school, the little kids and I went to visit my friend Alyssa. Henry was in heaven, because Alyssa gifted him with her tupperware drawer! Laney had so much fun playing some games! Alyssa is a HUGE gifter, and this is what I came home with! She's so sweet! We came home and made some yummy cookies. Laney got bored with baking, so she decided to have fun with my camera instead! On Saturday, the girls had basketball. My camera has been crazy, so here's just one pix of them warming up...Jon is their coach. On Saturday night, Jon, the children and I were all invited to our friends, Rob and Alyssa's home. Pre-party pix! Alyssa and I, along with our boys...Henry and Aspen! (I made Alyssa's little felt headband!) Here are the cookies that I made and took! The K is for Klatte (Rob and Alyssa's last name) and the others are supposed to be log cabins, since the Klatte's live in one! Emily, along with Rob and Alyssa's children, Isabella and Quinn, formed a rock band and entertained everyone! Emily and Isabella. Quinn and Henry...Go Colts! Jon and Henry enjoying the party! We had a wonderful time spending time with and meeting new friends!

Today the temperature hit 50 degrees, and although it has been rainy, a touch of sunshine breaks through! A sliver of spring is out there! Absolutely lovely! I'm going to make my sister's wonderful potato soup and along with everyone else in our little corner of the world, we will cheer on the Indianapolis Colts this afternoon!

Eye Candy: Children's Artwork

My camera has been giving me fits; therefore, I thought I would share some eye candy with you...what keeps me busy! :)

I hope that you all are enjoying your Saturday!
