Valentines

Friday was our 4th snow day,
so we decided to start our valentines!
We love to make homemade valentines for the girls' classmates!
We had a lot of scrap canvas paper,
so we cut up little rectangles!
I drew up some funny little pictures and sayings...
the girls colored them.

It snowed 2 more inches yesterday, but that didn't stop dear hubs...

He drove our whole family into town to get our hair done!

Wow! The children and I look like new peeps!

Lunch, Lowe's, Barnes and Noble...then finally the grocery store...

The girls chose the OLD SCHOOL chalky hearts to put into their valentine bags!

I've had these cute jewelry baggies for years.
Finally got to put them to use!
******
So today, the girls filled 41 bags.
We then stapled our homemade tags to the top.
Each girl signed the backs.

I originally thought Emily might want to make bookmark valentines for her classmates.
Obviously, she went for the funny little homemade bags instead.
We did end up making a nice bookmark valentine for Emily's teacher though.
We used more scrap canvas paper, scrap fabric, yarn and some beads.
For children, I think it would be nice to tie a package of SMARTIES to the bookmark!
(Maybe even use: You + Me = Friends...or something "educational".)

Emily loved creating this bookmark by herself...

Of course I would have added a TON more glitter, beading, maybe even hand-stitching around the edges.....

It was all just about enjoying creativity...
and that we sure did!

** And Emily was very unsure about posting this before Valentine's Day. She thought maybe her teacher would read my blog (She doesn't...that I know of) and tell everyone about Emily's SURPRISE Valentines! I assured her that her classmates will be surprised on the 14th! :)
