Health Nuts

Before kids, twizzlers and an USWeekly always made me feel a bit better. Who knew that junk food and celebrity gossip could cure anything!

Fast forward....

After children, I look at the world a bit differently. I wear my Momma Bear: Protector Of My Cubs badge 24 hours. Unfortunately, that badge does not make us indestructible.

We try to be healthy..

* Hubs is always swimming, biking or running (and I'm waiting for some motivation to rub off.). He's even talked to the girls about kid triathlons. And of course, Laney's response....Do they allow training wheels? (We've been bribing her to get those training wheels off her bike! Lil and Big sister both have...as they call them "Lance Armstrong bikes" {Treks} and round our driveway like they are on the Tour!)

*I used to place our vitamins on a beautiful dessert plate, and now just upped it to a dinner plate.

*We use hormone free and organic. Local, fresh.

*One of us is Gluten Free/Casein Free, but we all are taking to this diet. It's just healthier.

*I use use natural detergents, shampoos and soaps mostly for the children.

No, we are absolutely NOT health nuts, but we are just trying to keep our lives simple and clean.

With that said, yesterday I took Emily to an allergist. Dr. said she was the winner of the day. Out of 26 items, she tested positive for 24.

This pix was taken about 5 minutes into the test. You should have seen some of those welts after 20 minutes! Again, Dr. said she's BAD for an 8 year old! Great!

Basically, my girlie is allergic to everything outside: grass, trees, corn (Hello? We have miles of corn fields around us!). She also tested positive for dog/cat and dust, but those are lower. But guess what? She isn't allergic to a specific mold or cockroaches! Cockroaches? Really? Ewww!

After a trip to get some meds, new pillow, pillow and mattress protectors...and today a thorough cleaning of her already clean room, we hope that our little girl has a bit more comfort.

Now, off to finish her mini 4H project. We let her choose 1 project for her first year. And what did she choose? Forestry. We are creating an art collage using things collected in our backyard...yes, EVERYTHING SHE IS ALLERGIC TO!

She wanted to finish the project and a lot of it is dry anyway, so no reactions. But, I'm thinking that she won't chose forestry next year!

Yes, twizzlers and USWeekly used to be my cure-all. ( And I may or may not keep a secret stash hidden "just incase".) But, I'm moving up in the world as I near closer to 40 years. Thought I'd try a new cure-all....

...and I think I'm gonna LOVE it!
